Two summers ago, the Disney Channel movie Camp Rock turned then 16-year-old Demi Lovato into a breakout star and ‘tweens the world over fell in love with her character, Mitchie Torres, an everygirl with rock star talent and a pretty cool duet partner (that would be a mulleted Joe Jonas.)

Two years, two pop-rock albums and another Disney movie later, Demi and the JoBros return for the sequel, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, premiering September 3. In an exclusive interview with Celebuzz, Demi, who recently blew out her 18th birthday candles, said both she and Mitchie have grown up.

“She has more confidence now,” Demi told Celebuzz of her character. “In the first movie she was really insecure and she didn’t really know who she was. Now she’s more driven.

”You could say the same about Demi, who is starring in her very own Disney Channel series, Sonny With a Chance, working on an R&B-influenced third studio album, moving her family into a new house (!) and touring with the Jonases, including Joe, 21, who is now her ex-boyfriend. How does she manage to remain friends with him?

“Well, you have to, ‘cause you work with him,” Demi told us. “When you’re hurt, it’s easy to move on, so it was very easy for me to move on.”

Her advice for fans attempting to get along with their exes is pretty simple. “Suck it up,” she said with a laugh.

And so she’s doing just that, even revealing that she has a crush on a well-known R&B star.

“I’m kind of digging Trey Songz – he’s pretty hot,” she divulged. Though she tells Celebuzz there’s nothing romantic happening with the 25-year-old singer-actor, she said, “We followed each other on Twitter and direct message each other…he’s pretty awesome.”

Trey’s soulful vibe could be an indication of what fans will hear on Demi’s new album, which she hopes to release early next year. Expect what she calls a “new sound,” a blend of hip-hop and dance tracks, and even – brace yourselves — possible duets with Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber.

“We talked about doing a duo together, like an acoustic or something. That would be really fun to do with her,” Demi told us of Miley. “She’s one of my best friends and she’s super talented, so I’d love to have her on the album.”

The Biebs, who just shared the stage with Miley this week in New York, is also on Demi’s list of potential collaborators.

“He’s a really sweet kid. I’d love to work with him,” she said. “My little sister loves him and I’m a fan so I guess you could say I’ve got Bieber Fever.”

Amidst buzz that Baby Biebs wants to remake Grease with Miley, Demi says she’d “rather do West Side Story” or Broadway’s In the Heights.

For now, Demi is focusing on a new season of Sonny With a Chance (not to be confused with the similarly-named It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which she calls “one of her favorite” shows.) Despite her milestone 18th birthday, she’s in no rush to take on grittier roles.

“I don’t really feel like I need to do that until I step out of my Disney Channel place,” she told Celebuzz. “I’m just kind of waiting until the timing is right, but I feel more adult, just living day by day as a newly 18 year old.”

Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam premeries Sept. 3 on Disney Channel.

Will you tune in to see Demi rock with the JoBros? Should she duet with Miley and The Bieb – and strike up romance with Trey Songz? Weigh in on all things Demi in the comments! Also, check out BuzzNet’s exclusive contest to win an autographed Demi Lovato guitar!!!

‘I’m now just taking that next step,’ singer tells MTV News about her upcoming album.

Demi Lovato likes to sing rock music. In fact, the Disney queen has a well-publicized love affair with all things rock and metal. But she’s willing to take a leap on her next album and make music that is less rock influenced than her previous efforts. It’s a natural step for Lovato as a singer with a big voice.

“I’m now just taking that next step and learning how to make my music more radio-friendly but also stay very artistic, and for me that’s R&B,” Lovato told MTV News last week. “I can put my vocal stylings on songs that are R&B and it showcases my vocals more than just singing really loud on a rock song.”

Lovato says that while she’s publicly owned up to loving rock, she’s always sung R&B, too. So for her it wasn’t much of a stretch, even if her audience might feel like it is. “It’s really nice to embrace it,” she said. “I grew up singing R&B and then I grew up listening to rock, so it was kind of weird. But I’m kind of learning how to incorporate the two and I’m having a good time with it.”

Lovato may have more of a good time on the album, which she is currently working on while on tour with the Jonas Brothers, if her dream collaborations come to fruition. “I would love for Drake to be on the album,” she said. “It’s kind of like a pipe dream. I would also like to do a song with Trey Songz. It would be hot! Yeah, it would be really good.”

Lovato named the music of Keri Hilson and Rihanna as inspirations for her upcoming album, which she’s taking her time with. “It’s something I want to focus on and really pour myself into it,” she told DailyFill.com. “I don’t want to rush it out,” she explained. “I definitely feel like I’m proud of everything I put out there.”

‘It would be hot!’ singer says of teaming up with the hip-hop and R&B heavyweights.

Demi Lovato is looking to try her hand at R&B on her next album. While she has cited Rihanna as an influence for the album’s vibe, she has two of R&B and hip hop’s most recognizable voices in mind as dream collaborators for the album, which she is currently hard at work on while hitting the road with the Jonas Brothers.

“I would love for Drake to be on the album,” she said. “It’s kind of like a pipe dream. I would also like to do a song with Trey Songz. It would be hot! Yeah, it would be really good.”

While Drake and Trey aren’t onboard (yet, anyway), fans can expect Demi to turn her sound upside down on the upcoming LP. “I’ve been working with a few producers,” she told MTV News. “I don’t know if I can talk about it, but I’m excited to start working with more people.”

Lovato, who has always displayed her big voice on her songs and the “Camp Rock” soundtracks, is ready to show the world just what that sounds like on these new songs.

“I’m working on new music, writing new songs, trying to approach a different route, doing a new sound,” Lovato said. “I’m really excited. It’ll be fun. It’s more R&B/pop. I’m trying to bring out my inner ‘soul’; a new side of Demi,” she laughed. “I’m straying away from the rock this time.”

‘There are times where we pay more attention to the older crowd,’ she tells MTV News of Disney soundtrack.

With only a few weeks left until the September 3 premiere of “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” on the Disney Channel, fans can prepare by getting familiar with the tunes from the movie’s soundtrack, out Tuesday (August 10). Not only is it chock-full of catchy pop tunes co-stars Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers are currently playing on tour, but with tracks written by the likes of Kara DioGuardi and Toby Gad, the album is sure to have fans dancing in their living rooms.

But while the entire album will please “Camp Rock” followers, it’s the songs with the bigger heart that have deeper meaning for Lovato.

“I’m really excited for fans to hear pretty much all the songs. A lot of the songs are really fun and they’re dance songs, but there’s also songs that are kind of emotional,” Lovato told MTV News at tour rehearsals. ” ‘It’s Not Too Late,’ I really enjoyed singing it. I loved performing it,” she added. “And also ‘Wouldn’t Change a Thing’ is a song that’s really fun to perform because I really get to showcase my voice.”

Of course fans will enjoy hearing “Wouldn’t Change a Thing,” if only because it reunites Lovato and Joe Jonas — on record, at least. “Yeah, it sounds really great [performed live],” she said. “And it’s fun too. We’re having a good time with it.”

Although the “Camp Rock 2″ soundtrack songs aren’t official Lovato tracks, the singer said she works hard to get into the right headspace to interpret the songs. And she loves singing, which makes it a lot easier.

“You know, not all of the songs are emotional because it’s a Disney musical movie, so we like to keep it really upbeat, especially when it’s aged towards a younger demographic,” she explained. “Kids lose interest, so you have to keep it upbeat, but sometimes there are times where we pay more attention to the older crowd and one of the songs being ‘It’s Not Too Late.’ Even though it’s not my song that I wrote or even that’s going to be on my album, I’m able to put my personal experiences into it.

“I really enjoy singing, whether it’s my own songs or other people’s songs.”

Saturday’s concert in Chicago featured duets, dance-offs and a generous helping of older hits.

TINLEY PARK, Illinois — After Demi Lovato played a raucous set of her original songs, some old-school “Camp Rock” numbers and a few tunes from the September 3 Disney Channel movie “Camp Rock 2,” Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas hit the stage for the inaugural stop of their new tour at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre on a steamy Saturday night.

The Jonas Brothers got their half of the party started with “Feeling Alive,” “Hold On” and “Year 3000,” and girls were immediately screaming, singing and dancing on their seats.

“How are you guys doing tonight? You excited for ‘Camp Rock 2′?” Joe asked the crowd before dancers hit the stage for an uptempo, country-tinged new tune from the soundtrack.

The guys played a number of songs off the soundtrack, and when Kevin asked for fans’ opinions of the new songs, he received a resounding cheer. The crowd went nuts when Demi came onstage to sing “This Is Me” along with the boys.

Joe and Demi also played their new duet, “Wouldn’t Change a Thing.”

“You guys are awesome,” Demi told everyone before saying good night.

The next part of the night belonged to “L.A. Baby,” from their “JONAS L.A.” TV show. That led into a cover of the Beatles’ “Drive My Car.”

After “Paranoid,” Joe and Kevin gave their little bro, Nick, the stage for his solo “Who I Am.” “Thank you so much for loving me for who I am,” he told everyone.

Nick was rejoined by his brothers and took to the piano for “Fly With Me.” Then, girls went crazy for the ballad “When You Look Me in the Eyes.”

Telling the fans they were going to “take them back in time,” the Jonases played “Please Be Mine” as photos of the guys from over the years showed on a screen behind them.

Then the stage was transformed into a swanky jazz club, complete with dancers in ’20s garb, for “Lovebug.”

For the encore, the brothers brought out their hits “S.O.S.” and then “Burnin’ Up.” And on this sweltering night, it took little to make the crowd burn up themselves, but Nick stripping down to a tank top made the girls scream even more as the show drew to a close.

Are you going to see the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato in concert this summer? Tell us what you hope they play in the comments below.

If you’ve never heard of Demi Lovato, you probably have never tuned into the Disney Channel. Right now, you’d catch episodes of her sitcom “Sonny With a Chance,” along with promos for her upcoming “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” and music videos starring the Texas-native all in between. While Lovato is the current face of Disney’s pop machine, she’s also easily one of the most talented. Her two self-penned albums “Don’t Forget” and “Here We Go Again” have showed maturity beyond her 17 years and she’s already at work on her third
Are you guys excited to hear new songs and the new sound? What are your expectations?.

Following her highly publicized break-up with middle brother Joe, Lovato is heading out on tour with the Jonas Brothers and the rest of the “Camp Rock 2” crew this week. She took time to talk to CNS exclusively about her new music, new sound, and touring with her ex-boyfriend.

CNS: It’s been a year since your last album, “Here We Go Again, and I hear you’ve been working on your third album already. What can you tell me about what you’ve written or recorded so far?

Demi Lovato: The new album so far it’s a little more pop, it’s more R&B. It’s a little more soulful. It has a different sound to it so I’m really excited to see how it turns out.

CNS: So it’s a little bit of a departure from your rock sound?

DL: Kind of, but I feel like I’m going to be doing that too so I might be incorporating rock and R&B.

CNS: So who would you saying is inspiring your sound right now?

DL: I would say Keri Hilson and Rihanna.

CNS: You worked with John Mayer on your last album. You guys hooked up through Twitter. Who would you send some tweets to and ask them to work with you on your new album?

DL: I would love, love, love to collaborate with Trey Songz. I think that’d be awesome.

CNS: I also heard that you wrote a Spanish song for your new album. What’s that like?

DL: I wrote a half Spanish song. It turned out really incredible so hopefully my fans will love it too.

CNS: “Here We Go Again” seemed already more mature than “Don’t Forget” and that was only released a few months later. It sounds like you’re planning on taking more time with this album.

DL: It’s something that I’m doing on purpose, you know. It’s something I want to focus on and really pour myself into it. I don’t want to rush it out. I definitely feel like I’m proud of everything I put out there.

CNS: So this is the first time there’s ever been a “ Camp Rock ” tour and I hear it’s going to bigger than your previous tours, with costume changes and all. How is it going to be different from your previous shows?

DL: “ Camp Rock ” is spread out through a lot of it. You’ll have to wait and find out.

CNS: In “Camp Rock 2,” there’s dancing during the numbers for “Can’t Back Down” and “It’s On.” Are you going to be dancing on stage this time around?

DL: I will be. I’m adding dancers to my own personal set, not just for “ Camp Rock .” It’s going to be a whole other element and I’m excited to see how it turns out. I’m just excited for my fans to see it.

CNS: So you’ve toured with the Jonas Brothers before, but this is the first time since you and Joe’s breakup. How are you feeling about touring with Joe? Do you feel things are going to be different?

DL: We thought about it when we first started dating, you know, to think about the consequences or what would happen if we weren’t dating when it came to tour. It’s definitely something we thought about before and we’re just dealing with now. It’s not bad, you know. We had a really great friendship before and now we just have to keep it going.

Demi Lovato, the Jonas Brothers, and the stars of “Camp Rock 2” kick off their tour on August 7th in Tinley Park and continue on through November. “Camp Rock 2” premieres on the Disney Channel September 3rd.

Demi Lovato is not worried about touring with ex boyfriend Joe Jonas and his band the Jonas Brothers this summer.

“It will be fine,” the 17-year-old responded after Ryan played back Joe’s comments about him looking forward to the tour.

“I’ve already seen him. It’s cool!” she added.

“We ran into each other at the Do Something Awards. I was doing my own thing and ran into him and it was really cool. It felt like it was back to normal before all the romance started. So now it’s kind of like, ‘Okay, we’re just back to being buddies’.”

Joe, who dumped Demi earlier this year, previously said: “I think touring will be a lot of fun,”.

“Demi has been a friend of mine for a long time. I think that our friendship is so strong that it surpasses a lot of things.

SOUNDTRACK TO DISNEY CHANNEL ORIGINAL MOVIE CAMP ROCK 2: THE FINAL JAM SET FOR AUGUST 10th RELEASE

BURBANK, Calif., July 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — No. 1 selling recording artist Demi Lovato and the multi-platinum-selling artists, the Jonas Brothers are featured on the soundtrack of the summer—Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam—set to rock into stores and online retailers on Tuesday, August 10th. The album features 15-all new songs from the movie, including three bonus songs (“Different Summers,” “Walkin’ In My Shoes” and “It’s Not Too Late”). The physical CD also features exciting special bonuses, including the full-length “It’s On” music video, exclusive interviews with Demi Lovato and Jonas Brothers, and a movie photo gallery accessible through computer ROM drives. “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam,” premieres Friday, September 3rd on Disney Channel.

The Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam soundtrack will receive its worldwide broadcast debut on Radio Disney’s Planet Premiere feature Saturday, August 7th (7:00 p.m., ET/ 4:00 p.m., PT) and Sunday, August 8th (12:00 p.m., ET/ 9:00 a.m., PT). Two of the soundtrack’s hits, “It’s On,” and “Can’t Back Down,” have been anchored in the Top 10 of Radio Disney’s Top 30 Countdown.

After the tremendous success of the original “Camp Rock,” which became cable TV’s #1 entertainment telecast in Total Viewers (10.1 million) and TV’s #1 entertainment telecast among Tweens 9-14 (3.8 million) in 2008, the blockbuster Disney Channel Original Movie catapulted Demi Lovato into a global star and pumped up the volume on the hugely popular Jonas Brothers. In addition, the “Camp Rock” soundtrack sold 2.5 million CDs worldwide and spent a remarkable 10 weeks in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart for that same year.

“Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” is a full out rock ‘n roll musical that celebrates music, dance and the freedom of summer and reminds viewers to ‘enjoy the journey.’ This summer of fun opens on a high-pitched Camp Rock reunion. All the Camp Rockers have returned, eager to tune up and rock out but a glistening new camp across the lake, Camp Star, poaches Camp Rock’s counselors and may put Camp Rock out of business. Mitchie Torres (played by Demi Lovato) steps it up as she challenges the egocentric Camp Star to an end-of-summer performance duel—it’s on!

Nick Jonas commented, “In the first movie, music was part of it. This one—music tells the story.” Demi Lovato added, “In this movie there are several different kinds of music — and music is what drives ‘Camp Rock 2′.”

The accomplished songwriters who contributed to the full out musical film and soundtrack include: Kara DioGuardi, Mitch Allan, Dapo Torimiro, Antonina Armato, Tim James, Jamie Houston, Adam Watts and Andy Dodd.

The three continent Jonas Brothers Live in Concert with Special Guest Demi Lovato plus Special Friends from “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” features both artists’ hits as well as music from both “Camp Rock” films, embarks on August 7 in Chicago, Illinois. The “Camp Rock” film stars who will join the Live In Concert world tour include Alyson Stoner, Matthew “Mdot” Finley, Anna Maria Perez de Tagle, Roshon Fegan and Jordan Francis.

The Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam soundtrack will be available nationwide on August 10, 2010 wherever music is sold. For more information on Walt Disney Records’ releases, please visit DisneyRecords.com, become a fan at Facebook.com/disneymusic or follow us at Twitter.com/disneymusic.

“I’m just writing it right now,” Demi said of her third record – the follow-up to 2009′s Here We Go Again.

“When I went into it I totally wanted to do something completely different. Then I started straying back to where I was going, so I don’t know.

“But I definitely want it to be more mature than the last record.”

Demi added: “All of my records have been kind of rushed. This one I’m really taking the time with and not putting it out after month of making it.”

Lovato – who turns 18 next month (August 20) – has recorded a Spanish song for the album. She also promised not to change her image too much when the record is released.
